Every function on our board works in pairs — for accountability, mutual support, and organisational agility. Each pair is building a working group around their function, bringing more community members into governance and creating a talent pipeline for the future.
No one works alone. Every function has two people sharing the load and holding each other accountable.
Each pair builds a wider group — bringing members and allies with relevant skills closer to the work.
Today's advisory group member is tomorrow's board candidate. We grow governance from within.
Being part of a structured force for positive change — that's what drew me to BLKOUT. I believe in the mission and want to help build something that lasts. As a board member, I hope to bring focus, energy, and a commitment to making this space everything it can be for our community.
I believe Black queer men will have a thriving, loving community — not as a dream, but as something we build together. I'm here to promote that vision. When I'm not running or at the gym, I'm thinking about how ancient wisdom and philosophy can guide us toward something better.
I've been part of the BLKOUT community for years and I've seen what it means to people. I want to help take it to the next level — making sure we're organised, sustainable, and still having a laugh while we do it. Good governance doesn't have to be dry.
A gay man of Burundian origin living in Hackney, I care about building communities where connection is real and lasting. I joined BLKOUT's board to help ensure our growth is thoughtful and sustainable — so the relationships and spaces we create for Black queer men truly hold over time.
Visibility is my superpower. Growing up, I learned that standing tall as a Black queer person — even when you feel invisible — is a radical act. I joined the BLKOUT board because I want to help build a community where no one has to fight for the right to be seen.
I'm drawn to balance — in life and in community. BLKOUT matters because it creates space for Black queer men to simply exist, without performance. I hope to bring a steady presence to the board: someone who listens carefully, values simplicity, and believes that showing up consistently is its own kind of leadership.
We're looking for two people to form our Finance/Fundraising pair. Comfortable with numbers, budgets, and the questions that keep a small organisation honest.
