Global Black Gay Men Connect (GBGMC), in partnership with Grindr, are hosting a global virtual Black Gay Pride Event on Friday 10 July 2020.

Starting at 3pm on July 10, the group is kicking-off a twelve-hour-long virtual celebration of the global Black LGBTQ+ community. For three hours at a time, the roving pride event will move from Africa to Europe, the Caribbean and South America, and finish in the US. More than a parade, it is a joyful riot against existing power structures that continue to dismiss the importance of Black lives.

Marc Thompson, co-founder of BlackoutUK and GBGMC board member who has been working with a UK based team to curate the European segment said:

“With the global pandemic and its impact on Black and Brown communities, the killing of George Floyd and the ongoing murders of Black trans women and men, these past few months have been particularly challenging for our communities. In dark times we need reflection, healing and joy.

I’m really excited and proud to be part of the team bringing this global celebration of Black queer life from across the diaspora together. Im particularly excited to that we have the really talented Lee Gray hosting our segment and show casing some of the amazing creativity, talent, activism and community building we have here in the UK and across Europe”
