When we forget that the way it is, is not the way it has to be, we give up our power over the future. This was the key message that we explored before engaging with the consultation being undertaken to shape new forms of local and community-led scrutiny of London’s police service, the Metropolitan police.
It was great to see that the organisations tasked with undertaking the consultation and analysis created space for Black LGBTQ voices to be included in the live events. While 20 people signed up to attend the event, fewer than half that number actually attended. No doubt they have their reasons, but the outcome is disappointing.
Ever resourceful, the organisers were prepared for this outcome and have opened up the consultation to those who would prefer to share their views without attending the event. Just click here to be taken to the consultation pages
