Speak like Baldwin

James Baldwin used his intellect and experiences to shine a light on the systemic patterns of racial exclusion and denial that shape US society and race relations. His writing was only a part of his mission to change the world, it also involved engaging key thinkers of the period in debate, from Malcolm X to Dick Gregory or William F Buckley in the US and internationally, using the media available to him at the time to engage others with his ideas.

BlackOutUK creates spaces for debate and discussion about the issues facing Black gay/bi/SGL/queer men. BlackOutUK team members have spoken at a number of events recently, covering issues such as sexual health, mental health, media representation, employment, social cohesion, and global connections.

We have some exciting plans in development to enable our voices to be heard by key public service leaders in order to improve outcomes from the services tasked with supporting us. Make sure that you sign up for our newsletter and follow us on social media to stay in touch
