We’re back! After the stonking success of the first Black Men Who Brunch, we can’t wait to bring you the second of our day long events that centre and celebrate Black gay/bi/trans men.

If you couldn’t make the Holiday Edition back in December, here’s your chance to experience the special kind of Black Man Magic we create when we come together. If you were there, we know you want to experience it again.

You can book your place to attend from 9am on Wednesday 12th Feb. Half of the places are either free or ‘pay-what-you-can’ – we don’t think finances should be a barrier to Black Boy Joy. If you can afford a little more than the ticket cover price, please do pay it forward – #strongertogether

Readers who are on the mailing list or who already have the mobile app will be able to book their place right away. Check your email for the password.

WHAT’S FOR BRUNCH? The Menu

We’ve listened to your feedback and have been working on making Black Men Who Brunch an event that you’ll want to make a fixture in your diaries.

To help you plan your day and to encourage as many as possible to join us, even if for a short while, we’ve split the menu for the day into four courses and provided approximate timings.

Those who brunch will be treated to an afternoon menu of networking, live performance arts, skills exchange, and debate, all overflowing with Black Boy Joy, and shaped lovingly by us, for us:

for starters: discover

12.30 – 4pm

Take part in a personal development workshop, share a skill, learn something new, find a new hobby, refresh an old skill, hold court and document our different opinions and experiences by participating in a debate, and contributing to a soapbox video, meet about a meetup, share your two penn’oth for nowt . . . ‘only connect’.

Would you or an organisation you are part of like to offer an hour-long workshop – perhaps as an intro to your brand, a taster for a longer course, to recruit new staff or volunteers, to share your passion for a sport or game, or simply to be part of the fun? Click here to pitch your idea

A full list of available workshops will be shared a week before Brunch – those who brunch can sign up online or decide when you arrive.

main course: dine

12.30-2.30pm

Brunch is served! Over brunch, we will emphasise connection and encourage diners to mingle and mix – a space for inter-generational networking, for making connections, for support and sharing. This month, there are 60 spaces for brunch which will be catered by the Triton Café – with an emphasis on nutritious, tasty, sustainably sourced, meals.

Are you a foodpreneur? We’d love for Brunch to support food businesses that are led by Black and/or queer owners – get in touch

He wants more?!: delight

3.30-6.30pm

Delight in our monthly entertainment, arts, and current affairs show. Starting with the best in Black queer short film, presented by guest hosts, and backed by a live band, those who brunch will join talented podcasters, top-notch performers, and share in the wit and wisdom of Black queer excellence.

Think you should be on the Black men Who Brunch stage? – tell us why, shoot your shot, make a pitch

sweet: dance

6.30-9pm

It wouldn’t be our revolution if we couldn’t dance. The No Tea, Tea Dance kicks-off with a guest set of lifetime faves from our ‘Desert Island DJ’ followed by new DJ talent from the Shade Free crew to end the weekend in style, without making Monday mornings any worse than they have to be.

EAT IN & TAKEAWAY We will record a live podcast for sharing at a later date, create video together, and livestream some workshops and performances. This month’s key takeaway will be The BlackOut Hub – our new community app. Download The Hub for FREE entry to the March Brunch, and priority tickets to other BlackOut UK events, and offers from some of our partners.

They say that when one door closes, another opens.

Thanks to The Arboretum for welcoming us in December. In the fast-moving world of West End clubland there’s been a change in ownership there which means we were one of the last groups to have the privilege of experiencing the space in that form.

We are delighted that we’ve been able to find a new host venue for Black Men Who Brunch without any compromise on quality, in fact it may suit us even better.

Thanks to British Land and the Community team at Regent’s Place for welcoming us

Black Men Who Brunch is a space that centres Black Queer Men in all our diversity, and responds to our needs for connection, for healing, for joy, and collective action. You do not have to be a Black Queer Man to attend, as long as you understand that this is one of the few moments that we have to express ourselves in a society where we are usually perceived as on the margins and act appropriately, in allyship and support.

Special shout out to the BlackOut Collective members who make this event possible
Cheers guys!
